Abstract
Organization culture is basic assumption or values found by exploring history and experiences. The importance role of culture is its influence to organizational performance. Organization culture serves major functions that provides a sense of identity for members, enhances commitment to the organizations’s mission, and clarifies and reinforces standards of behavior. As a guidance, organization culture consists of some components that can be divided into three layers: artifacts, values, and basic assumptions. There are two alternatives in relation to the existence of organization culture, namely maintain or change it. The culture of organization must be maintained when it still gives support to organization in achieving best performance. The key of this choice is socialization to all members. Otherwise, when the present values has no more relevancies—caused by dynamic of both internal and external environment—changes or adaptation of values have to be made.
