Abstract

This research aims at describing the Indonesia language competence of first semester students in PR Department ASMI Santa Maria Yogyakarta. It is important because Indonesia Language as on of the element for their skill to talk or write in their jobs. Its need to do rapidly and exactly. For measuring their skill, the composition of the mid semester test were analysed. The data are calculated from the words that they produced in 90 minutes. Normally, students reach 500 words or more. Beside that try to find out the wrong words that they made. The result of calculation every students work for producting the words in one hour, the average is 158,43 words. Only one student reached 300 words. It means, the PR students had low skill for producting in Indonesia language word. Automatically, from the result we must help the students to improve their competency especially in Indonesia language. By give some assignments intensively to the students, it can improve their skill, for example asked the students to read and write more and more. Beside that the students are asked to discuss and explain many kinds materials.
