Abstract

This paper is a study of multiculturalism in Indonesia that is facing problematic conditions today. The experience of the state managing differences is not directly proportional to the field conditions that show an increase in various problems related to various diversity. Multiculturalism is an understanding and way of thinking that needs to be developed continuously by all parties, so that multiculturalism as a philosophy that directs all parties to listen to and understand each other, without having to give up their personal principles and beliefs. The Catholic Church always encourages the faithful to avoid attitudes that do not reflect the teachings of the Church and the teachings of the Bible, such as extremities and violence, instead the Church teaches togetherness, solidarity, cooperation, religious moderation and peaceful coexistence in differences.
