Abstract

The current developments in global geopolitics have a significant influence on the relevance of Wawasan Nusantara as Indonesia's geopolitical concept. Global dynamics such as great power rivalries, regional conflicts, economic globalization, advances in information technology, and the increasing threats of non-traditional security require Indonesia to adjust its perspective and strategy in maintaining territorial integrity and national unity. These changes impact various aspects of national life, including politics, economy, socio-culture, defense, and national security. Wawasan Nusantara can no longer be understood merely as a normative concept; rather, it must function as an adaptive strategic guideline in facing the complexities of global geopolitics. To respond to these dynamics, a Wawasan Nusantara strategy needs to be implemented comprehensively across various dimensions. First, in foreign policy, Indonesia applies the principle of an independent and active stance grounded in national insight. Second, in the field of defense and security, this strategy emphasizes maritime and continental integration to safeguard national sovereignty. Third, in domestic development, the strategy is realized through strengthening civic defense, developing border regions, and reinforcing national integration as the foundation of national resilience.
