Abstract

This research aims at describing the background and the influence of Grebeg Sudiro Ceremony in Kalurahan Sudiroprajan Solo. Because of the good assimilation between Javanese and China etnic, they can live in harmony.Based on the interview with the Grebeg Sudiro Ceremony’s leader, this event is resulted from the informal agreement of the two etnics. It happened on 2008. They felt that they must celebrate every year a week before Imlek celebration. One of the purposes is to rember their generations and young generations of both etnics that the elder generations can live in harmony.The culture assimilation between Javanese and Chinese are visible in making mountains of Jaler and Estri baskets. It means that their traditions could mix like a melting pot, it is in one bottle that see every content in the different coloured but look a beautiful. Both traditions could accept their deferences sincerely. Beside that, Barong Sai as the Chinese tradition could be accepted by Javanese etnics, the players are not only the Chinese etnics but also followed by Javanese etnics. They feel as a big family not only in their living in the society but also in the celebration, especially in the Kirab of Grebeg Sudiro. They could perform a beautiful cultural performance. This effort is to influent the children, young and older generations in Kalurahan Sudiroprajan, and they give an appreciation about the harmony relations to each others etnics. This event is hoped to influent other etnics in the other places in Indonesia.
