Abstract
This article describes the critical role of Catholic religious learning in forming students' character holistically by developing all aspects of students' self, both physically, emotionally, intellectually, socially, and spiritually. Therefore, the right approach is needed in learning Catholicism to shape students' humanist-religious character. The humanist-religious process views humans as beings who have spiritual values that must be developed in everyday life. This approach teaches students to understand Catholic religious values, which can help shape character for the better. More than that, this approach promotes humanist and spiritual values, such as caring, empathy, tolerance, humility, honesty, love, critical thinking, and the ability to appreciate differences and have genuine brotherhood. This approach includes three aspects of learning the Catholic religion: developing spiritual, social, and academic values. In Catholic religious learning, the humanist-religious process can be implemented through various learning methods, such as ProblemBased Learning, Cooperative Learning, Flipped Classrooms, and Problem-Solving Approach.
