Abstract
Environmental ethics concerns the way human beings should behave towards the environment. In this ethic, non-human beings get attention. Environmental ethics is also a criticism of ethics having been adopted by humans who limit themselves to social communities. Modern men view nature as object which must be exploited to fulfill the needs without thinking of its effects. This paper seeks to explore the Catholic Christian’s view of nature, specifically departing from Pope Francis' Encyclical: Laudato Si. Catholic Christianity believes that nature is God's creation. Humans are mandated to conquer and rule nature. Misconceptions often lead to wrong behavior in taking advantage of nature. Christianity needs to give its view as a preventive or repressive effort, how human beings should behave towards nature.
