Abstract
Organization’s progress depends on the manner of overcoming all problems. In process of achieving the goals, organization has to coping with the internal and external dynamics. Most of us solve problem merely based on its symptoms. Symptom of problems are different from the root of problems. The weakness of problem solving based on symptom is that is not comprehensive way, the problems could come up in the next time. It means, all problems have to be solved according to the main cause of problems. The root cause problems of SMK Kanisius 1 Pakem have to be recognized clearly. Related to that, this research attempts to explore six priority problems with Problem analysis approach. Problem 1: “ The decrease of student body”, root cause: “the decrease of learning quality”. Problem 2: “no special features of the graduates”, root cause: “no special school values”. Problem 3: “the lack of cohesiveness among teachers/employees”, root cause: “the unclear and unfair of employee administration”. Problem 4: “the unsteady of teacher/employee in work”, root cause: ”The weakness of school governance”. Problem 5: “the static school conditions”. Root cause: “the poor of planning”. Problem 6: “The lower quality of graduates”, root cause: “the poor of quality management systems”. Root cause-based solution determines the progress of the school.
