Abstract
Diversity in demography, abilities and experiences of members are the characteristics of team. The existence of team is to achieve the goals in the diversity of the members. So, the effective performances become success standard. Team performance can be improved by motivating and inspiring team leadership. One of theories that explains team leadership is called Functional Leadership Theory. Based on the theory, team leader is a person who has responsibility to fulfill the needs of team. Team leadership is fundamentally oriented around the satisfaction of critical team’s needs. Team leadership is conceptualized as process of team needs. Transformational leadership is defined in terms of leader’s effect on followers: they trust, admire, have loyalty, and respect the leader, and they are motivated to do more than they are originally expected to do. A conclusion of one research is that transformational leadership components of team leader are significantly related to effectiveness of team members.
