Abstract
Yogyakarta has a large number of vocational educations. Vocational education prepares people to work as a technician or in support roles in professions such as communication, medicine, engineering, nursing, architecture, cullinary, or law. Learning from foreign community college management, there are new perspectives how to meet vocational education system with community needs. A qualitative research was conducted in Kapiolani Community College, Hawaii, USA. Study case were choosen to get a huge information how their vocational education is conducted. They integrate campus, government, alumni and society to manage their vocational education system. This research find that Kapiolani Community College can synchronize their vocational education system with community needs. Hawaii is a tourism destination. Kapiolani Community College is able to synchronize and combine study program and Hawaiian knowledge in order to smooth implementing theories and concepts in community. Vocational education in Yogyakarta should prepare students with communication skills. It is important to encourage internal public of a campus to master and aplly basic communication skills in serving a process of enlightenment.
